The Trust was established under the will of Daniel A Hally who died on 7 March 1966. The Perpetual Guardian Trust administers the fund.
The Albert Daniel Hally Trust is established according to the wishes of the late Mr Hally, to support charitable institutions or those having as their charitable object(s) the benefit of South Canterbury.
Under the Charities Commission there are four categories of recognised charitable purposes
• The relief of poverty
• The advancement of education
• The advancement of religion
• Other purposes beneficial to the community
Most costs/expenses eligible. The Albert Daniel Hally Trust is distributed according to the wishes of the late Mr Hally, to support charitable institutions or those having as their charitable object(s) the benefit of the people of South Canterbury.

Applications close end of April and October each year

Please be sure to include the following information to enable your Application to be considered:
1.Bank verification of your bank account number, i.e. bank deposit slip / statement or similar.
2.Copy of your Organisation's last set of Annual Accounts [must be within last 18 months].
3.Complete all sections of this Application Form [if you wish to provide additional information, please attach a covering sheet].
4.Have you previously applied for a Grant from this Trust?
YES / NO
attach a copy of your Constitution to be retained by the Trustee.
If "YES" detail any changes to your Constitution since last Application.

Information required with your application
Submit a completed application form to the Timaru District Council before the closing date. Application forms are available from Council offices in Geraldine, Temuka and Timaru.

The Guardian Trust administers the fund and applications to the AD Hally Trust are considered by the AD Hally Trust committee.
Within six weeks. Fund size Around $70,000 annually - varies each year depending on investment earnings.
The Timaru District Council acts as secretary for the AD Hally Trust committee and and provides a local liaison role for the applicants.
Applicants will receive a letter from the Public Trust advising the decision. Successful applicants will have the grant paid into a bank account within 4 weeks of the decision provided all the required banking information is included with the application.
