Health and Safety guidelines for schools

Health and Safety guidelines for schools

13 December 2016

The amendment to the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 that took effect in April this year has led to some concern among school sport personnel, including principals and Boards of Trustees, about the practicalities of delivering school sport.

Under the new legislation all organisations and people involved need to accept responsibility for ensuring a safe environment for participants, volunteers and spectators.  These guidelines simplify the legislative requirements and clarify how schools can manage the effective and safe delivery of school sport across numerous providers.
