Physical education is a key enabler of quality sport and recreation experiences for young people.

Within the education setting there are numerous opportunities to ensure young people have access to enriching physical activity options. This can involve movement opportunities within wider learning areas, and within the context of health and wellbeing.

Tug-of-war

MoveWell

A new resource to support teachers, kaiako and others to implement activities that are appropriate to, and extend children’s learning, confidence, ability, and enjoyment in Physical Education. Movewell uses an enjoyable, games-centred approach to develop children’s knowledge, attitudes and movement skills.

Supporting schools

A series of resources to help schools and kura create opportunities for year 1-8 students to engage in a range of physical activity that contributes to their wellbeing. These are based on lessons from our Play.sport pilot.
