History

The Trust was founded in 1871 and was formed originally from the town acres not taken up by rural settlers in the district. The Trust now owns mainly residential land in Greytown and other commercial buildings in the locality.

Objectives

To hold Trust lands for the purposes of public utility in the district and the promotion and assistance of such purposes in particular to provide financial assistance for educational, physical welfare and cultural purposes.

Arts and culture; community; education; sport and recreation; youth.

Activities funded

Buildings and/or redevelopment ; equipment, furniture, materials, etc ; maintenance/protection/restoration ; training/education.

Excluded activities

Accommodation; administration/operating costs; transport; travel within NZ; travel overseas.

How to apply

The Trust holds two community grant funding rounds per year – March and September.

March – Closing Date: 28 February 2020 for consideration mid March and payment by 31 March 2020.
September – Closing Date: 29 August 2020 for consideration mid September and payment by 30 September 2020.

Applications will be accepted either in electronic or hard copy form.
A separate application must be made for each project or event.

Information required with your application

Your application should be accompanied by a detailed overview of the purpose for which the grant is being applied. Evidence to support the expenditure for which the grant is being requested must be submitted to the trustees before the grant is released. In the case of local organisations a copy of the latest annual accounts is also required. (Specific requirements may be found on the application form).

Other information

As from 1 April 2015 there will now be TWO major funding rounds - these are September and March.

However, applications will still be accepted on a monthly basis for urgent grants to be considered at the monthly Trust Board meetings and the closing date is the first Thursday of each month.
