Sport New Zealand (Sport NZ) is the new name for the government organisation responsible for sport and recreation (formerly SPARC).
The Rural Travel Fund is a relationship between SPARC and local authorities and has been developed in response to concerns about the lack of participation in sport by young people living in rural communities.
The Rural Travel Fund is designed to assist with transport expenses associated with participating in regular local competitions.

Individuals, Assistance to attend regional or national events are not eligible.

Information required with your application
• organisation and contact details
• event details (number of children, travel distance)
• financial details
• bank deposit slip
• evidence of endorsement from your local affiliated club/school (if required).

The Allocations Committee meets in May and November to consider applications.
Conditions of acceptance
Sport NZ requires clubs and schools that receive funding to return an accountability form.
This is a subsidy-based funding scheme. This means that groups must contribute towards the costs of their project.
