Wellington City ratepaying area includes Tawa but not the Hutt Valley or Porirua.

Eligibility

Community venue assistance is intended to help with the creation of spaces for use by the community. The venue must be used to deliver services and activities that contribute to the social wellbeing focus areas.
• projects must provide for a multi-purpose community space to run activities that meet the needs of the community.
• community development and community capability building is a core function of the applicant organisation.
• the applicant organisation has a management committee to proactively manage the facility.
• the applicant organisation has an active membership of 20 or more, excluding the committee, and the membership list is available for public inspection.
• there is a demonstrable gap or need for the facility.
• the Council does not support similar venues in the local area or suburb.
• the applicant organisation may only receive funding in two consecutive years.
• the maximum grant is for 30% of the annual rental or lease cost or $15,000, whichever is the lesser.
• preference will be given to projects which support multiple user groups.

History

Community venue assistance will assist with creating community space and venues where services and activities contribute to social well-being.

Objectives

This grant helps to provide and improve access to community spaces for community use. The services and activities delivered at these venues must contribute to the Council's social wellbeing priorities.

• preference will be given to projects which support multiple user groups.

Not intended to suppot a limited number of individuals

Activities funded

Assistance towards Rental or Lease costs or one off expenses relating to a venue used by the community.

Excluded activities

If you are a community organisation in a Council building, then you are not able to apply for assistance with rental or lease costs through this fund.

$55,000.00

Upper limit per grant application

30 percent of the annual rental or lease cost or $15,000, whichever is less.

How to apply

• before you apply you must complete the registration stage. Please click on the website link provided https://wellingtonfunding.secure.force.com/
• please note: each organisation (or individual) will only need to complete this stage once, no matter how many grant applications you intend to make. You will be asked some basic information, contact details, including someone from your board or management committee.
• you can submit your application at any point before the closing date, once we receive an application we can start to make an assessment.

Information required with your application

For each application you will be asked some questions about what you want to do, who will be involved and when it will take place. You will also need to tell us what the outcomes will be; it will be these outcomes that we'll ask you to report back on.

Decision makers

Council Officers from Community Services and the Funding Team will assess all applications and will meet to decide who will be funded and to what level.

Decision time

After you submit your funding request you will receive an email to acknowledge receipt of your application.

How notified

By email from the funding portal.

How paid

• once the funding agreement has been accepted in the funding portal. If the applicant is GST registered a tax invoice must be attached to the funding agreement.
• payments are processed once a week and will take a minimum of five working days to show in the nominated account.

Conditions of acceptance

You will be asked to submit your accountability reports through the portal within one year of the close of the round.
