Eligibility

Groups or organisations applying for funding should be based in the Eltham/Kaponga Ward.

Applications from sporting bodies will not normally be considered.
The Board prefers to support local projects which demonstrate a good contribution to the Community Outcomes.

This fund should generally be treated as a LAST RESORT after all other attempts to raise funds or obtain assistance have been unsuccessful.

History

There are four Local Discretionary Funds, one for each ward in South Taranaki (Egmont Plains, Eltham, Hawera and Patea).

Objectives

The purpose of the Local Discretionary Fund is to fund small projects within the ward that encourage groups with non-profit making or charitable aims to develop services, facilities, amenities or programmes for:
• recreation and sport
• entertainment and amusement
• culture and arts
• general benefit of the community.

Projects funded

The purpose of these Funds is to assist small projects within each ward that encourage groups with non-profit making or charitable aims to develop services, facilities, amenities or programmes for:
• recreation and sport
• entertainment and amusement
• culture and arts
• general benefit of the community

Excluded projects

• the board does not consider retrospective funding
• applications from sporting bodies will not normally be considered.

Activities funded

Expenses related to your project and approved by the Board.

Excluded activities

• travel costs
• individuals
• gifts
• conference attendance
• food or catering costs.

How to apply

This fund should generally be treated as a LAST resort after all other attempts to raise funds or obtain assistance have been unsuccessful.

The Board will automatically decline any application where a representative does not attend the Board meeting.

You will not normally be eligible for funding if you have already received funding from the Eltham/Kaponga Discretionary Fund this financial year (1 July–30 June).

Information required with your application

Please include the following with your application:

• a copy of your latest annual accounts
• verification of any unsuccessful attempts to obtain funding from other sources such as letters declining your application
• a bank printed deposit slip.

How paid

The grant will normally be paid by cheque or direct credit to the successful applicant within 21 days of the Board meeting at which your application is heard.

Exceptions may be made to this procedure, for example the Board may request:
• that invoices be provided before payment is made; or
• if further funding is required to successfully complete the project, the Board may request evidence that the applicant has been successful in raising the full sum required before making payment.

Conditions of acceptance

Applicants must sign the Declaration form provided with the application form which sets out the terms and conditions.

You WILL NOT normally be eligible for funding if you have already received funding from the Eltham Discretionary Fund this financial year (1 July - 30 June)

Please be aware A REPRESENTATIVE MUST BE PRESENT at the Eltham Community Board Meeting to speak to this funding application otherwise the  application will be declined.

INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE RETURNED TO APPLICANT FOR COMPLETION (please be aware this could delay the consideration/outcome of your application).

LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED
