Eligibility

Grants are available for rural sports clubs or rural school teams with young people aged between 5 and 19 years, to help with transport expenses to local sporting competitions.

History

Sport New Zealand (Sport NZ) is the new name for the government organisation responsible for sport and recreation (formerly SPARC).

The Rural Travel fund is a partnership between SPARC and territorial authorities.

To assist the development of junior sport in rural communities by providing a travel subsidy.

How to apply

Please note: The closing date for applications to the Sport New Zealand Rural Travel Fund has been extended by six weeks. The new closing date is Friday, June 5 2020. It is hoped that by then sports clubs and organisations will have more certainty around travel to attend events

Sport NZ requires organisation who receive funding under this scheme to return an accountability form to the appropriate territorial authority showing proof of puchase made within that period and attach any receipts.
