Council community assistance support will only be provided for organisations located within the Far North whose principal functions and/or activities are of a not for profit nature.

History

The Community Grant Fund - Local is provided to contribute to Council's strategic priorities and Community outcomes as published in the current Long Term Plan.

Objectives

• enhance access to facilities for the general public (if the project is to support/develop a facility)
• broaden the range of activities and experiences available to the general public
• enhance community/volunteer capability to provide services
• supplement the resources of Council from external sources and community participation (a minimum of 50% funding for the project from sources other than Council)
• enhance access to services or projects that align with Council's strategic priorities.

How to apply

1. Make sure your project meets our funding guidelines 
The Community Grant Policy(PDF, 466KB) outlines the requirements for applicants requesting Local Community Grant funding from our Community Boards.

2. Complete application 
Print the Local Grant application form(PDF, 612KB)
Provide all the information requested - incomplete applications will not be processed
If you need help with your application contact us by calling 0800 920 029 and ask to speak to the Funding Advisor

3. Submit application
Your application must be received in full 15 working days before the next community board meeting. Late applications will not be considered.

Information required with your application

• signed applicant declaration
• two quotes for purchases where practicable, or evidence of expected purchases
• business plan (if applicable) including project costs
• details of all other funding secured or pending approval for this project (minimum 50%)
• programme outline (if applicable)
• a health and safety plan (if applicable)
• most recent financial statements / annual accounts
• a deposit slip

Conditions of acceptance

There is a need for a high level of transparency and accountability for the spending of community grant funds and accountability arrangements will be documented in an agreement between the Council and the community organisation receiving support.
