Eligibility

Any rural sports club or rural school team domiciled within the Whakatāne District area with members between the ages of 5 and 19 can apply for a grant from the fund.

History

Sport New Zealand (Sport NZ) is the new name for the government organisation responsible for sport and recreation (formerly SPARC).

To assist sports and school teams with young people with transport costs.

Information required with your application

Budget and quotes for travel costs and a bank encoded deposit slip to allow the funds to be banked directly into the Club's bank account.

Decision makers

The decision is made by the Community Sports Fund Assessment Committee made up of a number of community representatives and two Councillors.

Decision time

Applications will be considered by the Community Sport Fund Assessment Committee on Thursday, 11 April 2019. Applicants are notified of the decision within a week of the meeting.

How paid

By Direct Credit into the Club's bank account.

Conditions of acceptance

Recipients of funding through the Rural Travel Fund are required to complete an organisational receipt form within which they must:
• specify how the grant was spent and attach evidence of expenditure such as receipts, invoices or signed statements by the club's accountant
• report the benefits of having received the assistance
