Norman Jones Foundation Outward Bound Scholarship

History of award

Established to commemorate the life of Norman Jones.


To provide opportunity for mature persons to gain the confidence and encouragement to further their career and establish long term goals.


A "second chance" style of selection for adults who also may be looking to further their education / career goals where this Outward Bound scheme would help.
IMPORTANT: Scholarship only open to Southland, Tapanui or Queenstown residents aged 27 years and over, financially disadvantaged. Applicant must be a NZ Citizen and resident of the above mentioned area(s).

Number of awards

Two each year.

8 days plus travel.

Additional information

Each year two people are chosen to attend a 'Discovery' Course in Anakiwa. All successful recipients must comply with the Outward Bound rules. All applicants are interviewed by the NJF trustees.

In writing within one month of closing date.

Conditions of acceptance

A report of the course to be provided to Board within one month of returning.
