Lincoln University Rugby Scholarship

History of award

Established in 1998 by Lincoln University in conjunction with the Canterbury Rugby Football Union.


To assist young elite rugby talent in achieving an academic qualification, without the financial burden of course fees at Lincoln University. New and Current students may apply.


• NZ citzen or permanent resident
• New and Current students may apply.

• Applicants must have gained NCEA Level Three Certificate, including University Entrance, (or an equivalent entrance qualification) and be eligible to enter university by February of the year following their application. Applicants will also be considered from students who are currently enrolled in alternative study programmes.

• Must have played for a secondary school First XV team or be an age-group representative player.

Up to 20


Tuition fees plus access to the Canterbury Rugby Football Union's development programme


Minimum time required to complete chosen course.

Selection panel comprising of the Vice-Chancellor or nominee, Convenor of the V-C's Scholarships Committee and Chair of the Canterbury Rugby Football Union


Applicants notified within one month of closing dates.

Conditions of acceptance

Continued satisfactory sporting and academic progress.
