University of Waikato Rugby Development Scholarship

History of award

The Scholarships will be known as the University of Waikato Rugby Development Scholarship.

Purpose

To financially assist an undergraduate student studying full-time at Waikato University.

Eligibility

All scholarship recipients will be considered by the Waikato Rugby Union as genuine prospects for future Waikato ITM Cup Representative Teams. Recipients of the Scholarship must also be part of the Rugby Union Academy/Development System and / or playing representative rugby for Waikato only during the tenure of the Scholarship.

The initial selection criteria will be based on academic merit, leadership and sporting potential.

Tenable initially for one year.

Complete an Application to Enrol BEFORE you can have access to apply for Scholarships and Awards (This application is not a commitment to study here at the University of Waikato and can be withdrawn or updated at any time).
If you are a current student or already have a MyWaikato account you will be redirected to the MyWaikato screen:

Click on the ‘Scholarships’ tab and select the scholarship you wish to apply for from the list of scholarships at the bottom of the page.

Additional information

All scholarship recipients will be expected to play for the Waikato University Rugby Football Club; however, exemptions may be granted by the University of Waikato taking into account the recipient's personal and playing commitments.

Decision makers

The Selection Panel, acting on behalf of the Academic Board of the University of Waikato, will comprise the Head of Student and Academic Services (as Chair), the Waikato Rugby Union Game Development Manager and the University of Waikato High Performance Manager.

Notification

The Scholarship will be paid in one lump sum directly towards the recipient's tuition fees after the withdrawal deadline for A semester papers.

Conditions of acceptance

The offer of the Scholarship is subject to the candidate fulfilling all requirements for admission to the University of Waikato and enrolling, in the year of tenure, in a programme deemed appropriate by the selection panel.
