Eric Hawkes Memorial Outward Bound Scholarship for people aged 18-26 years inclusive (21 day standard course)

History of award

The Southland District Council will sponsor two individuals to attend the New Zealand Outward Bound School in Anakiwa, 23 kilometres from Picton.

Purpose

To encourage and increase self-responsibility, confidence and motivation and to help build positive relationships with colleagues and others.

Eligibility

*For people aged 18 - 26 years inclusive (21 Day Standard Course).

Applicants and/or their parents or guardians must currently live in the Southland District Council area and have done so for at least two consecutive years before applying.

Notification

All applicants are required to attend an interview on the third Thursday of January.

Conditions of acceptance

Training conditions entail a commitment of maximum effort in all course activities, co-operation with staff and fellow students and abstention from smoking and alcohol.
