Skills Active Māori Sports Awards Scholarship/Grant
History of award
Since 1999, Skills Active (the industry training organisation for sports, fitness and recreation), have been proud partners of Te Tohu Taakaro o Aotearoa Charitable Trust in providing scholarships for promising and outstanding Māori athletes in support of their sporting and academic careers.
This year Skills Active is offering a scholarship of $5,000 to a male or female athlete of Māori descent (aged from 16 to U/20).
Applicants need to be aged 16 to 20, and achieving outstanding results at regional, national or international level.

While recipient names, rohe, age, Iwi and scholarship will be publicised within the kaupapa of the Māori Sports Awards Events, the personal information requested in this application form will be used solely for the purposes of assessing your application for a Scholarship Administered by Skills Active & Te Tohu Taakaro O Aotearoa Charitable Trust. Personal information contained in the application will be made available to members of the Judging Committee.
The CEO & Management of Skills Active, and the CEO of Te Tohu Taakaro o Aotearoa Charitable Trust, will make the final selection.
The Successful applicant will be required to attend the National Māori Sports Awards and will be assisted with the costs of travel and accommodation.
Conditions of acceptance
The successful candidate will be required to be available for a one-off marketing or presentation exercise to the CEO and/or Board of Skills Active and send regular updates of their progress.
