History of award

The Robert Algie Memorial Sports Trust Incorporated became established in 1990. In memory of Wairarapa born Robert Algie (Wrestler) who succumbed to Cancer on Sunday October 8, 1989.

Purpose

Providing financial assistance, It is stressed priority will be given to those young people who have shown potential in their chosen sport, but require assistance to realise that potential.

Eligibility

The Trust has its own goal the promotion and support of sporting activity for people under the age of 20 years in the Wairarapa region.

In exceptional circumstances only, the Trust may consider applications from persons 20 years of age or over.

How do students apply?

Trustees meet in March/June/Sept/Dec but where necessary will consider applications outside these months.
