High performing boards, governance as leadership, a director’s guide, making board meetings more productive, Health and Safety at Work Act.

HIGH PERFORMING BOARDS; WHAT’S ON THEIR AGENDA

MAKING BOARD MEETINGS MORE PRODUCTIVE

Almost every contribution in the board room falls into one of seven categories; seeking, building consensus, telling, supporting, disagreeing, giving information or interrupting.

The balance between these forms of interaction defines the success or otherwise of any meeting. A good article from Iain McCormick in The Director magazine discusses how a trained third party observer can help a board better understand its own dynamics

HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK ACT

We have received several inquiries about the likely impact of the legislation for boards in the sector. Sport NZ has commissioned some formal advice and we will circulate that within the next month.

In general if you are currently running a good H&S environment under the current legislation then these changes should not cause concern. We will circulate the sector specific advice shortly.
