We continue to implement critically important programmes that include our focus on Diversity and Inclusion (inclusive of the Disability Active Recreation and Sport Strategy and the Women and Girls in Sport and Active Recreation Strategy), Healthy Active Learning, the Integrity in Sport programme and supporting disadvantaged communities.

COVID-19 response

The play, active recreation and sport sector has been hit hard due to COVID-19 and the restrictions placed on New Zealanders.

Sport NZ launched an early relief package to help the sector remain viable through the pandemic. Following this, Government announced it would invest $264.6m across four years  into the recovery of the play, active recreation and sport sector as part of Budget 2020.
