Graduate Programme 2015 - 2016

Kia ora, my name is Glenn and I was on the Sport NZ Graduate Programme from 2015-2016. My time on the Graduate Programme gave me a thorough and unique understanding of the New Zealand sport system.

In my first year I was based at the Sport NZ office in Wellington and was fortunate enough to work on projects such as the development of the cutting edge talent plan that is now being implemented. In my second year I was placed at Sport Bay of Plenty and Cycling New Zealand. During this time, I had the opportunity to work on a range of projects such as school sport reviews, youth engagement, major sporting events and was able to gain experience and observe two completely different organisations.

I recently returned from playing semi-professional hockey in England and learnt a lot about international sport systems. I am now working at Good George Brewing in a marketing role. It is providing me some great insights in to how the private sector functions which I will hope to bring back to the sport sector in the near future.

I am now studying towards being a Physical Education and Health Teacher through the University of Waikato.
