(Chair)

Rāniera (Daniel) Procter is a proud graduate of Te Kōhanga Reo, Kura Kaupapa Māori Aho Matua, and Te Panekiretanga o Te Reo. He is born and bred on the East Coast, descending from the tribes of Ngāi Tāmanuhiri, Ngāti Uepohatu, and Ngāti Porou. He is seven-time National Surfing Champion who continues to compete at the national level. His interests in strengthening the rights of Māori through Te Tiriti o Waitangi have led him to several governing opportunities, namely Co-Chair of Te Kōhanga Reo National Trust, Chair of Te Matakahuki and member of Toitū Te Ora Tairāwhiti. He is excited by the opportunity Te Taumata affords Sport NZ Ihi Aotearoa to uncover a deeper understanding of Kaupapa Māori, hauora and toi oranga.
