Rāniera (Daniel) Procter is a proud descendant of Ngāi Tāmanuhiri, Ngāti Uepohatu, and Ngāti Porou. He is a distinguished graduate of Te Kōhanga Reo, Kura Kaupapa Māori Aho Matua, and Te Panekiretanga o Te Reo. 

Born and bred on the East Coast, Rāniera is a seven-time National Surfing Champion who continues to compete at national levels. 

His expertise and interests are in advocating for Māori rights through Te Tiriti o Waitangi.   

Rāniera holds several governance roles, including as Chair of Taumata Māori and as a member of the Sport New Zealand Board. He is also Co-Chair of Te Kōhanga Reo National Trust, Chair of Te Matakahuki and a member of Toitū Te Ora Tairāwhiti.
