Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Making sure no one is missing out

Our vision is Every Body Active. We want Aotearoa to be a place where no one is missing out on the benefits of physical activity. Every New Zealander – regardless of age, gender, disability, cultural or religious background, sexual orientation, or where they live – has the right to be treated fairly and enjoy the physical activities of their choice. A big part of our mission is making sure everyone feels accepted, respected and included in play, active recreation and sport.

What is DEI?

Learn why diversity, equity and inclusion are important in the play, active recreation and sport sector.

Inclusivity Hub

The Inclusivity Hub is helping to ensure sport and recreation is inclusive for everyone. Created specifically for people working in play, active recreation and sport, the Hub provides a range of resources for organisations and individuals wanting to start or progress on their diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) learning journey.

Key areas

At Sport New Zealand, we are particularly focused on groups for whom play, active recreation or sport may not be meeting their needs or making them feel included. Below are our plans, commitments and key areas that focus on addressing inequities to ensure everybody has the access and opportunity to participate.
