Voice of participant

Club membership is changing, and it’s important for sport and recreation organisations to understand what can be done to keep people involved.

Sport NZ’s survey helps national sports organisations learn what players think about their club experience and how clubs can adapt to meet people’s changing needs.

When people have a better club experience, they’re more likely to keep playing and speak positively about their club experience.

The survey looks at the key parts of the participant experience, including:

  • overall experience (eg, satisfaction, likelihood to recommend the club to others, and likelihood to rejoin)
  • satisfaction with things like facilities, social environment, venues, fairness, friendliness and club management
  • areas that need improvement
  • inappropriate sideline behaviour
  • perception of gender equality

Each participating National Sport Organisation receives a tailored report. These include:

  • full results from all survey questions
  • year-on-year comparisons (where available)
  • benchmarking against the average results from other participating sports.

To access these reports, please contact your National Sport Organisation directly.

If you require an accessible version of any content on the site please contact us and we will be happy to assist.
