BoostedSport
BoostedSport is a new crowdfunding platform dedicated to funding grassroots play, active recreation and sport. It’s all about giving clubs and local groups an alternative way to raise funds to keep their communities involved in sports and activities.
BoostedSport has been launched by Sport NZ on behalf of the NZ Sports Foundation Charitable Trust and in partnership with the Arts Foundation of New Zealand to develop, building on the success of their successful arts platform – Boosted.
BoostedSport works in a similar way to other crowdfunding platforms where an organisation lists a project and reaches out to networks and communities for donations to reach a specific goal. This could be anything from a sports team competing in an event to a club fundraiser for equipment or facilities upgrade.
As well as raising money for projects, BoostedSport will help build communities of people that back their local clubs and organisations and help promote activities and events and encourage people to take part.
Who can list a project?
Any community or grassroots play, active recreation or sport project can be listed on BoostedSport, as long as it is beneficial to the community and has a ‘charitable purpose’ under New Zealand law. You don't have to be an actual sportsperson, coach or trainer to fundraise on BoostedSport. You just need to be involved and interested in the play, active recreation or sport space.
BoostedSport can also be used to raise funds for physical activity-based research, education, and infrastructure.
