Sport and Recreation Awards 2019

Entries are now open for the 12th New Zealand Sport and Recreation Awards, with two new categories for 2019.

Every year, individuals and organisations throughout New Zealand are making outstanding contributions to enrich people’s lives through sport and recreation.
The New Zealand Sport and Recreation Awards, hosted and organised by Sport NZ, highlight the very best of this work, celebrating excellence and leadership in community sport and recreation.

And now is your chance to recognise an outstanding contribution from your organisation. Entries are open for 2019, including two new categories; Leadership in Diversity and Inclusion Award and High Performance Impact Award.

Award categories 2019:

Event Excellence Award: awarded for best practice event planning and delivery in the sport and recreation sector.

Community Impact Award: awarded to a project which positively impacts children, young people and their whānau.

High Performance Impact Award: awarded for an innovative approach to inspire or empower community change through High Performance Sport.

Leadership in Diversity and Inclusion Award: awarded to an innovative initiative which supports diversity and inclusion within sport and recreation, such as access, participation, leadership and community connection.

Commercial Partnership Award: awarded to an organisation which has formed an exceptional partnership with a commercial organisation for the benefit of sport and recreation.

Future Leaders Scholarship: awarded to an individual, aged 40 or under, who has a proven track record of leadership and potential to make a major contribution to the sporting sector.

Winners will be announced at the Sport and Recreation Awards dinner, held in Auckland on Monday 24 June 2019, coinciding with the Sport NZ Connections Conference.

  • Finalists Announced - April 2019
  • New Zealand Sport and Recreation Awards Night - 24 June 2019
