Future proofing the active recreation sector
Future proofing the active recreation sector
Every day across the country thousands of Kiwis take part in active recreation and our research shows that the participation is growing.
The active recreation sector is diverse and the scope is getting broader and is generally considered to be non-competitive physical activity for enjoyment and better health.
Here at Sport New Zealand we want to support Kiwis to be active and to do this we need to have a good understanding of what organising bodies and participants are looking for from their active recreation pursuits.
In planning for the future state of the active recreation sector Sport New Zealand has been undertaking a project ‘Future Proofing the Active Recreation Sector’ to gain clarity on the active recreation participant and the roles and responsibilities of the organisations within this significant part of community sport. You can read more about the project here by downloading the PDF file below.
After six months of consultation, interviews and surveys we now have some high level findings to share with everyone in the sector and we plan to do this through a series of workshops across the country. The purpose of the workshops is to share the high level findings from the ‘Future Proofing the Active Recreation Sector’ research and discuss whether there is a case for change across the sector and if so what this change might entail.
