Innovations for young women

Wahine do battle on a tug-o-war rope

Sport NZ has committed to $3 million of contestable funding over three years to support projects designed to get more young women physically active and develop leadership opportunities through play, active recreation and sport. Further funding opportunities will be available in 2020.

The Innovations for Young Women fund was designed to encourage and support the development of new and bright ideas to engage young women to get and stay active.

Over 45 applications were assessed against criteria by a Sport NZ judging panel, with eight being selected to attend the two-day design challenge.

The selected teams have the opportunity to workshop their ideas alongside innovation experts and develop them into projects to be submitted for application to receive one-off funding of up to $25,000 per project.
