Kaupapa Māori applications
In response to Sport NZ Ihi Aotearoa’s commitment to becoming a bi-cultural organisation, the Tū Manawa fund has provided an opportunity for communities to apply for funding via a Kaupapa Māori pathway.
The pathway will focus on using the Te Whetū Rehua framework as a tool to help make decisions on the eligibility of an application.
See Te Whetū Rehua framework on our website to find out more.
If you have other kaupapa Māori frameworks you would like to use, then that’s fine too.
Once you have filled out and submitted the Kaupapa Māori application, it will go to a panel, led by Māori from your region, to be discussed and assessed.
A great example of a successful “Kaupapa Māori” application can be seen in this video here.
- The kura has identified the needs of their students.
- The kura has looked to the community to enhance how they can meet those needs.
- The responsibility for the planning and implementation of activities has been collaboratively designed.
Please contact your local Regional Sports Trust if you need further support.
