Play principle 3

Video transcript

[Play Sport Activator: Apanui Heemi speaking]

The third play principle is play is the shared responsibility of everyone.

This includes home school and the community. Kids don't just play at home, you know, 25 percent of the day is at school, so you know we have to offer a lot of variety for kids during the play time. And also the community comes in as a big part of a child's play experience. This could be going to the park or going for our walks but really everyone has to be on the same page when it comes to giving kids different play opportunities. Plays varies, you know it's not just sport, it's not just kicking the ball around. It could just be sitting down and playing with a piece of equipment or a toy, and also just playing with other kids around the street.
