Play principle 6

Video transcript

[Community Recreation Advisor: Helen Miles speaking]

The sixth play principle is about giving young people the opportunity to experience risk and challenge.

What this means is they experience heart-stopping fun and this can vary according to their age. When a young child learns to ride a bike for the first time then they progress as they get older to learn to ride their bike with no hands, and later on they learn to ride a bike going down a steep slope at great speed.
