Voice of Rangatahi

2021

Voice of Rangatahi is a survey focused on understanding how intermediate and secondary school students in New Zealand experience physical activity within their school or kura setting. This research is undertaken in collaboration with Regional Sports Trusts and the Regional Sport Director network.

In 2021, 13,490 students voluntarily completed the survey, which was delivered to 96 schools and kura in 11 Regional Sports Trust regions. This was the third year the survey has been undertaken.

The Voice of Rangatahi survey is designed to provide insight about the physical activity experience of students within each school that participates.  Each school has received their own results, based on the responses of their students.  This national report provides a view of the combined results across all the rangatahi that participated in 2021. The report shares insight into the overall state of physical activity (including PE and competitive sport) within the school setting.
