Women in Sports Governance website closing on 30 September

07 September 2026

The Appoint Better Boards Women in Play, Active Recreation and Sport Governance website will close on 30 September 2026.

Launched in 2020 to support the National Policy for Gender Equity in Governance, the website connected women interested in governance roles with organisations seeking diverse and skilled board members across the play, active recreation and sport sector.

Since then, the governance landscape has evolved, with more organisations, networks, development programmes and recruitment services supporting women into governance and leadership roles and helping organisations find governance talent.

Over the past 6 years, more than 500 women have been part of the Appoint Better Boards community. Alongside the organisations that used the platform to recruit board members, they have helped strengthen governance across the sector and support greater gender diversity in leadership.

If you have a profile on the website

The website will remain available until 30 September 2026.

Appoint Better Boards will contact everyone with an active profile on the website directly to explain what the closure means for their profile and personal information.
