Adaptive Run Jump Throw: a community Para sport pilot

30 October 2024

Paralympics New Zealand has completed its second regional community Para sport pilot, Adaptive Run Jump Throw, as part of its Collectively Stronger Together project under the Strengthen and Adapt programme.

The pilot took place between February – December 2023 and tested the operating approach in developing Para athletics in regions where it had not been offered previously.

Paralympics New Zealand engaged with a range of organisations throughout the pilot, including:

  • Athletics New Zealand
  • Parafed Gisborne
  • Parafed Northland
  • Inclusive Activity Murihiku
  • Athletics Hawke’s Bay Gisborne
  • Athletics Southland
  • Whangarei Athletics Club

Watch the video below which captures the outputs of this excellent mahi from the pilot partners.

A full report with the outcomes, impact, shared practices, and learnings can be requested from Paralympics New Zealand’s Para Sport Community Manager.
