Tamariki in the pool

The ‘Disability Inclusion Fund Impact Report’ captures the outcomes of a $3.6 million investment to support disabled tamariki and rangatahi from 2022 to 2025.

16 organisations were funded to deliver inclusive programmes, create new roles, and build sector capability through training and resources. The report highlights how these initiatives helped create more welcoming, accessible and meaningful opportunities for disabled young people to be active – often for the first time.

The mahi delivered through the fund has had a lasting impact. Most projects are continuing beyond the funding period, with inclusion now embedded into everyday practice across many organisations.

Highlights from the report

  • New roles embedded in communities to lead inclusive programmes specifically for disabled tamariki and rangatahi.
  • Partnerships with schools and clubs to deliver inclusive sport and play.
  • Training for thousands of coaches, teachers and staff in disability awareness.
  • Practical resources developed to support inclusive delivery.
  • Ongoing commitment to inclusion beyond the fund.

The report also shares stories from across the motu – showcasing how local leadership, collaboration and tailored approaches have helped shift the dial on inclusion.

Read the full report and explore the stories of impact. Alternate formats of the report will be available soon.
