Hockey National Spaces and Places Strategy 2024

Hockey National Spaces and Places Strategy 2024

21 November 2025

Hockey New Zealand's National Spaces and Places Strategy focuses on enhancing accessibility, sustainability and community engagement in hockey facilities and participation.

This forward-looking framework sets out a vision for delivering hockey across Aotearoa New Zealand, ensuring the game becomes more affordable, inclusive and sustainable. As the sporting landscape evolves, the strategy challenges traditional facility and delivery models, focusing on approaches that better reflect the diverse needs of our communities.

By embracing flexible, innovative solutions and reimagining where and how we play, the strategy provides a clear roadmap for addressing facility challenges nationwide. Together we can grow participation, inspire new players and ensure hockey thrives for generations to come.

This strategy replaces the 2016 National Hockey Facility Strategy.
