Sport NZ Group’s use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) aligns with the New Zealand Government’s Public Service Artificial Intelligence Framework.

We use AI to enhance internal efficiency and the delivery of our services across the play, active recreation and sport sector in Aotearoa New Zealand.

To ensure responsible use, we have included AI oversight into our existing data and technology governance processes and adopted an AI policy that sets out clear principles, responsibilities and guidance for its appropriate use.

Guiding our use of AI

• Individual oversight: AI supports our mahi but doesn’t replace our judgement, decision-making or expertise. Individuals remain accountable for the accuracy and quality of AI-generated content used in their mahi.
• Safe and responsible use: We use AI in ways that prioritise safety, privacy and information security.
• Ethical use: We uphold the highest ethical standards in using AI, ensuring fairness, transparency and respect for the rights of individuals and communities.
