Congratulations to world champion All Blacks

30 October 2015

The All Blacks have made New Zealand extremely proud again and etched their place in rugby history by winning the 2015 Rugby World Cup, says Sport New Zealand Chief Executive Peter Miskimmin.

“Congratulations to Captain Richie McCaw, the All Blacks squad and management for becoming the first team to win back-to-back Rugby World Cups at Twickenham today and the only team to win the event three times,” says Peter Miskimmin.

“After going unbeaten during the tournament and overcoming a strong Australia side in the final, the All Blacks richly deserve to hold the William Webb Ellis trophy for the next four years.

“One of the great things about sport is how it can unite the nation, and we’ve certainly seen that again with this World Cup campaign. The All Blacks’ heroics have not only done that but will also inspire the next generation of sports stars.

“Commiserations to Australia who battled hard and can hold their heads up for playing a great tournament.

“To the All Blacks, enjoy the moment and we look forward to more rugby success at the Rio Olympics next year!” Peter Miskimmin said.
