Ken has been the Lower Hutt representative on the Greater Wellington Regional Council since 2013. He has previously served as an elected member of the Hutt Valley District Health Board from 2004 to 2022 and the Hutt Mana Charitable Trust from 2010 to 2022.

His voluntary roles include Chair of the Hutt Valley Sports Awards and Patron of Ulalei Sport and Culture. He is also a coach for the Nga Hau e Wha o Wainuiomata Marae u17s and the Wellington Rugby League u18 Girls, who were the National Champions for 2024.

Ken has also been a sports commentator at Sky Sport NZ since 2000 having first started as a broadcaster in 1990 for TVNZ.
