Celebrating Youth Week 2022

Celebrating Youth Week 2022

To celebrate Youth Week 2022 we highlighted some of the incredible work being done to create opportunities for rangatahi to be active in their communities.

Moving Manurewa is part of a nationwide initiative between New Zealand Police and Touch New Zealand which encourages rangatahi and their whānau, regardless of age or ability, to get outdoors and make new connections through physical activity.

PATU Heretaunga is a community-based initiative in Hastings, striving to improve the wellbeing of their tamariki, rangatahi and whānau through physical activity. Their philosophy is “by the people, for the people”.  Here are some of their young people showing what it means for them.

Surely Skate, a youth-led organisation encouraging others to pick up a skateboard and give it a go. Their approach shows the importance of giving youth a voice in the design and leadership of projects being created for them.

Rangatahi in communities across Aotearoa are getting the opportunity to discover the joy and wellness benefits which skating can bring into their lives through the work of Wellness Riders.
