Insights Tool

Insights Tool

Bringing multiple sources of data together to better understand your participants and plan for future demand.

The Sport NZ Insights Tool is an interactive online resource and repository of information and data, designed to be used by anyone involved in the play, active recreation and sport sector to help guide decision making.

Built on the software platform, Tableau, the tool allows you to visualise and share information effectively. You will be able to understand key population groups, activity trends and view data that is specific to your region. Together, these will help you gain more relevant and targeted insights.

The Sport NZ Insights approach

Sport NZ supports the development of a play, active recreation and sport sector that is adaptive and responsive to the needs of participants (participant-focused).

The sector needs to target participants with the right products and services, respond to changing trends in participation, and deliver enriching and rewarding experiences.

The Insights Tool provides the sector with access to relevant information from different sources to uncover insights, and ultimately inform decisions that will have a positive impact on participation.

The Insights Tool sources data from:

  • Statistics NZ
  • Active NZ survey (Sport NZ)
  • School Sport New Zealand sports participation data
  • Ministry of Education
  • Ministry of Health
  • Nielsen Research.
