Manawakura: A focus on community wellbeing

At the heart of Healthy Active Learning lies localised approaches that meet the needs, wants and aspirations of communities. Co-designed with the community, this is what Healthy Active Learning looks like for the people of Tairāwhiti.

Regional collaboration, community relationships, whānau  support and the value of connecting to taiao are the key ingredients of Manawakura in Tairāwhiti.

It’s no different for their approach to kai, which is valued alongside physical activity and all about encouraging tamariki to connect with the food in their local environment, and how it makes them feel.
