[Grant Robertson, Minister for Sport and Recreation speaking]

We produced this, which is our Disability Plan.

Now that's for Sport New Zealand.

It's the first time we've ever had a proper action plan about what we as the government are going to do to support people with disabilities in active recreation and sport.

[Peter Miskimmin, Chief Executive, Sport NZ speaking]

We've increased our funding from six million dollars over the next four years to 13 million dollars. An additional seven million dollars targeted at providing more quality opportunities for people with impairment.

We also want to strengthen our partner capability to help our partners to provide more resources, more training, more modified games, more modified rules, to provide that quality experience for people with disability.

[Paula Tesoriero, Disability Rights Commissioner speaking]

This strategy has been launched, it's all about inclusiveness. Every person in New Zealand deserves the opportunity to participate in sport and recreation and this plan is a way of making sure that can happen.

[Gary Peacham, Special Olympics NZ speaking]

From a lens of Special Olympics it's it ticks all our boxes. It cements what we're currently doing and it it's gonna help us moving forward.

[Fiona Allan, Chief Executive, Paralympics NZ speaking]

Paralympics NZ are really excited about the announcement.

For sport in there to take a lead and have a disability plan - the first of its kind, creates really great leadership for the rest of the sector.

[Shelly McMeeken, Chief Executive, Halberg Foundation]

Really really delighted by the announcement. I think the disability plan clearly signals that young disabled people are a real priority to Sport New Zealand.

[Applause]
