Where to find them
Active NZ
Active NZ is a nationwide survey that shows how New Zealanders aged 5 and over are getting active – and how that’s changing. There are 2 key ways to explore the Active NZ data that may be valuable for regional organisations involved in, or interested in, the delivery of play, active recreation, and sport:
-
Regional tables: here you find the Active NZ data tables for each Regional Sports Trust region within New Zealand. These tables include Active NZ data specific to each region.
-
If you are looking to develop programmes for a specific demographic group such as girls and young women, the Active NZ annual data tables are a valuable resource. These tables provide detailed insights into:
-
-
- the types of sports and activities they participate in
- how their participation compares to other demographic groups
- common barriers to participation
- where they are most active.
-
You can also compare data from your region with other regions across New Zealand.
Insights tool
The Insights tool maps data from various sources to small sub-areas throughout New Zealand based on the demographic make-up of that area. You can see demographics, activity behaviours and trends, health trends and school data relating to region or subregion. Data can be viewed by city/district, regional sports trust and local board (Auckland only) filters.
