Betting on sports events

Racing Industry Act 2020
The Racing Industry Act 2020 came into force on 1 August 2020.

The Act contains numerous provisions relevant to Sport NZ and the sport sector relating to the regulation of TAB NZ and sports betting. These include a requirement for offshore betting agencies to pay a charge for their use of NZ sport information. This is referred to the betting information use charge.

To be covered by the betting information use provisions there has to be a New Zealand sporting event declared by Sport NZ under section 106. If you are an organisation who is responsible for an event, and have not been contacted by offshore agents, view the list of agent contacts here.

If you require an accessible version of any content on the site please contact us and we will be happy to assist.
