Living away from your marae can feel like it’s harder to connect and give back, but it’s actually easier than you think. Connecting to your marae can be done anywhere.
MaraeFit supports Māori being active as Māori, on marae or significant environments that are special to Māori, and where Te Reo Māori, tikanga Māori, Māori history and whakapapa is honoured.

Step 1: Download the MaraeFit app for your Android or iPhone.
Step 2: Register on MaraeFit and create an account. This will allow you to koha points to a chosen marae and receive notifications.
Step 4: Select your region and marae. You can select more than one marae.
Step 5: Your account is ready. Go to dashboard.
Step 1: Select Profile in the menu. Edit your profile settings.
Add a profile photo. Select photos from the gallery or take a new photo.
Save/delete photos in your profile.
View activities you’ve attended in your profile.
Step 1: Select Activities in the menu. The app defaults to listing activities in all regions. Filter by region if desired.
Step 2: Select Going or Fav buttons to register your interest. An automatic email is triggered to send to your inbox. Automatic email reminders are sent to you about your upcoming activity.
Step 1: Add whānau or friends who have phones or to make sign up easier. Think a teacher taking their classroom, a coach taking players, or an aunty taking nanny, koro and the mokopuna.
Step 2: Add new whānau fields for each individual. This part is important for generating points to koha to marae.
Step 2: Select whānau from the list to take them with you to an activity and tap continue to move to the final step.
Step 3: Points are earmarked to koha to the chosen marae. Points are allocated at the point of scanning into an activity.
Step 1: Select Profile in the menu. Select the ‘Activities’ tab to see your upcoming activities.
Step 2: Open the activity. Each QR code must be sighted and scanned by the event organiser. An automated email is sent to your inbox after the QR code has been scanned. Make it easy. Scan once for your classroom, team or whānau. Add individuals to your MaraeFit profile and to your saved activities.
Step 3: The review button is now enabled. Automated email has been sent to your inbox to encourage you to review (rating) the activity.
Step 4: Tap the review button and give a rating using the star icons to rate the activity. You will see a confirmation message once your rating is completed.
Step 1: Select Profile in the menu. Select My Marae in the tab.
Step 2: Add new or select existing marae to edit.
Step 3: Select rohe and then marae. Marae auto populates based on the rohe selection.
Step 4: View activities associated to this marae.
Step 5: View koha made to this marae. Your koha total and overall koha for this marae.
Step 6: View koha points afforded to this marae.
Step 1: Select Dashboard in the menu. You will see a snapshot of the activities you are going to. Here you will also have quick access to directions to your activity and the QR codes to scan in.
Step 2: Select the directions button to show you how to get to the activity and button to open the directions in Google Maps.
Step 3: Further down on the Dashboard you will see a snapshot of the activities saved to your favs, the number of whānau added to your profile and marae as well.
Step 4: When you’re ready to go, present the QR code for the activity to the event organiser. Scan and points are allocated to your chosen marae at the point of scanning. An automated email is sent to your inbox.
Step 1: Select leaderboard in the menu. The leaderboard shows the top 10 marae to receive koha points in your rohe. 1, 2 and 3 are featured at the top of the page. The number of whānau connected to marae through MaraeFit is also shown.
Step 2: Your marae always features on the leaderboard, regardless of its position.
Step 3: Suggestions are made to help you position your marae further up the leaderboard.
Running wānanga and Māori sports games takes a bit of mahi but can have big rewards beyond just physical activity. By connecting whānau to your activity, MaraeFit can also help you grow your community of supporters and reconnect whānau to marae who are living away from home.

Step 1: Select Dashboard in the menu. You will see a snapshot of your next activity and past activities. You will access participant lists and the QR scanner.
Step 2: The participant lists inform you of the various age groups attending your activity. This allows you to prepare the location accordingly.
Step 3: You are prompted when QR codes are scanned and completed. Successful scans trigger an automated email, and pointss and leaderboard is updated in the app.
