Motueka Recreation Centre

Motueka Recreation Centre is a long‑standing community hub that offers something for everyone. Opened in 1987 and managed by Sport Tasman on behalf of Tasman District Council since 1999, the centre plays a key role in supporting sport, active recreation and community connection in Motueka.

Originally an apple packhouse, the building was redeveloped into a recreation facility and now includes a wide range of spaces. These include a sports stadium, roller‑skating rink, fitness centre, indoor climbing wall, martial arts dojos, outdoor netball courts and meeting spaces. A privately managed cinema is also located within the building.

The centre is the largest of 5 community activity hubs across the Tasman district and hosts local sports clubs, community organisations and schools. It supports regular training, competition, programmes and events, helping people of all ages stay active, connected and engaged in their community.
