Big wins

The value of sport
For young people, the big wins in sport aren’t just on the scoreboard.

Sport contributes so much more than winning or losing. Participating plays a crucial role in the wellbeing and overall development of tamariki and rangatahi, extending from physical skills development to academic achievement to acceptance and belonging and the opportunity to make new friends.

When everyone in the sport system – administrators, managers, coaches and parents – work together, they can deliver quality experiences that encourage young people to stay in sport for life and reap its many benefits. The big wins are closely connected to the Balance is Better philosophy, which is the way that everyone can help make sure as many young people as possible get to benefit from the value of sport.

Find out about the big wins in sport through the articles below. Watch the videos for more inspiration on how to create quality experiences and the impact this can have.

Let’s make sure young people take away all the benefits of participating in the sports they love.
